Jean Samuel passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 in Alvarado. She was born in Fort Worth on July 30, 1937. She married the love of her life, Donald Wayne Samuel, in Fort Worth on August 15, 1953. They were married 54 years at the time of his passing on December 5, 2007. Jean was a member of Blum Baptist Church. She was a feisty lady that readily had a snarky comment or "Don-ism" that fit any occasion. Jean was purpose driven and had a generous heart. These attributes made her the perfect person to own and operate Live Oak Kennels for over 40 years, where she found the right fit for each dog and home that she linked together. She was dedicated and well-known for her protection and service training of dogs as well. So much so, that not only individuals sought her dogs out but they have been placed to serve at 9/11, various movies and television series, U.S. Secret Service, Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Bomb Program as well as several celebrities' homes. Jean was a lady that took control and in doing so gave with all her talents, resources, time and love. People were drawn to her, to say the least. The mark that Jean has left on the countless people she touched in her lifetime will never be forgotten. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mona & Marshall Mash and Grady White; husband, Don Samuel; and sisters, Toney Cole and Kay Davis.
Survivors include her children & their spouses, Steve & Mary Samuel, and Diane & Mark Ratcliff; grandchildren & their spouses, Maegan & Michael Johnson, John Samuel, and Mark & Alyssa Samuel; one great grandchild on the way; and a host of other relatives and friends.
