The family wishes to announce the passing away of Jeannette Marie (Sadler) Smith, a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jeannette, also known as Jan, died Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Huguley Memorial Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jeannette was born in Independence, Missouri, on October 12, 1934, graduated from Cut Bank High School in May 1952. She joined the Air Force in 1953 and met her husband Paul Smith in Sacramento, California. They were married on June 30, 1954. She was honorably discharged when found to be pregnant with her first child in January. The family moved to the Phoenix, Arizona area in 1967 and they stayed there until her retirement from the Maricopa County Sheriff's office in June of 1986 when they bought a motor home and traveled throughout the continental United States, Canada and Alaska.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her father Frank Reginald Sadler, Jr. and mother Edna Marie (Hamm) Sadler Larson, step-father Clarence Nobel Larson and brother Frank Reginald Sadler III. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul Delano Smith, two sons, three daughters, four granddaughters, one grandson, and two great-grandsons. They are as follows: Cathline Bertha Stone, her husband Scotty Ross Stone, her son Douglas Paul Smith of Haughton, Louisiana. Paul Delano Smith Jr., his daughters Katherine Ann Smith and Eugina Marie Smith with her significant other Ross Carrell and their sons Hunter Del Carrell and Max Allen Carrell of Simi Valley, California. Marie Orpah Mills, her husband Steven Jay Mills, and their two daughters Myra Ann Marie Mills and Kristi Lynn Mills of Alvarado, Texas. Teresa Leilani Smith of Cleburne, Texas. James Darrell Smith and his wife Jo Anne (Kono) Smith of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her half brother Charles Clarence Larson and his wife Darcy Ellenni (Hollenberg) Larson of Cut Bank, Montana.
She will be cremated and her ashes interred at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85024 at a later date.
