SSgt. Jeffrey Douglas Wright, Marine Corps, Retired after 20 years of service. Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Texas at Arlington. He was born November 21, 1971 in Germany and passed away January 24, 2019. A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, January 31 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at Crosier-Pearson-Cleburne Funeral Home in Cleburne, TX Sunday February 3. Interment with full military honors will be held at 2:15 Monday February 4, in the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
Survived by his wife, Lisa D. Wright; daughter Chloe; son Timothy; brother Douglas Wright of AZ; Grandfather Elmer Dick, Aunt Stacy Dick and cousins Scott, David and of Ellijay, GA, and Aunt Laura Hartley and Kirk Wright of Aspen, CO.
Jeff and Lisa were married in Redding, CA at North Valley Baptist Church on February 17, 1996.
Jeff served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and AWANA Leader at Calvary Baptist Church of Cleburne, Texas. He loved Irish music, corny jokes, and playing games of all kinds. He always made us laugh. Jeff was intentional about Shepherding the men and children who were close to him.
Jeff was the Technical Theatre Director at Pine Tree High School where he worked with his wife on theatre stage productions. Jeff and Lisa met at a stage musical, and Jeff built sets and operated lights and sound for church, community and school productions throughout their marriage.
Jeff, a military history and weapons expert and certified Stage Combat Instructor also enjoyed leading youth group Nerf battles. SSgt. Wright regularly served as Marine Corps Honor Guard and inspirational speaker for patriotic events. Jeff and Lisa ministered to military families impacted by the recent War on Terrorism. Jeff generously served others, and his family most of all.
Marine Corps Service Commendations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon (Iraq), Navy Presidential Unit Citation, 3 Navy Unit Commendations, 6 Marine Corps Good Conduct Awards, 2 National Defense Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for service to Kuwait, Iraq Campaign Medal with 4 Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal to Iraq; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment, Certificate of Commendation, Certificate of Appreciation, Meritorious Mast, 6 Letters of Appreciation, 7 Rifle Expert Badges, 4 Pistol Expert Badges.
