Services for Jenny Merle (Mangum) Harrison, 81, of Rio Vista, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Rev. David Emerson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Michael Karonka, Brian Ruiz, Brian Forest, Torrey Harrison, James Dan Harrison and John Thomas Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Wilson and Lee Coleman.
Mrs. Harrison passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008 in Cleburne. She was born December 3, 1926 in Cleburne, Texas to Thomas Oran and Vera Merle McFadden Mangum. She married E. J. (Johnny) Harrison February 5, 1945 in Cleburne, Texas.
Mrs. Harrison was a retired teacher and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleburne. She grew up in Cleburne and resided in Monahans for twenty-four years. She opened the first private kindergarten in Monahans, Texas which she operated for ten years. She taught Sunday School at Southside Baptist Church in Monahans for fifteen years. She partnered running the Harrison Ranch in Monahans and Rio Vista, along side her husband for over forty years. She was a member of the Garden Club, Ammors Laburim Book Club and the Chapel Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Cleburne.
Jenny Merle Harrison is survived by daughter, Hannah Coleman, of Rio Vista; two sons John Thomas Harrison and wife, Deborah, of Kenmore, Washington and James Dan Harrison and wife, Donna of College Station; grandchildren, Lee Edward Coleman and wife, Melanie, of Waxahachie, Dianna Ruiz and husband, Brian, of Mansfield, Larissa Harrison, of Bismarck, North Dakota, Celeste Forest and husband, Kevin, of Aldon, Pennsylvania, Rachell Harrison, of Kenmore, Washington, John Harrison, of South Korea, Alexanderia Harrison, of College Station, Torrey Harrison, also of College Station, Mallisa Karonka of Hearne and Salina Grisham of Katy; great-grandchildren, Caleb Coleman, Faith Coleman, Marigrace Coleman and Lilley Coleman, all of Waxahachie. She was preceded in death by her brother T. O. Mangum, Jr, March 23, 1982 and husband, E. J. "Johnny" Harrison, July 20, 1998.
