Service for Jerry Wayne Ayars, 80, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 in the Crossroad Fellowship Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Terry Darnall will officiate. Burial will be in Keene Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bill Ayars, Johnny Hodnett, Alan Ayars, Scott Parrot, Randy Hodnett, and Larry Froemming. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Willis, Ray Janes, Jack Jenkins, Ken Polk and Cecil May. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.
Jerry Wayne Ayars passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 in Cleburne. He was born Sept. 13, 1937 in Fort Worth to Lawrence William and Edith Adolphus Jones Ayars. He married Betty Margaret Harper on Oct. 24, 1971 at Lake Murray, OK.
Mr. Ayars served in the United States Marines and was a brewer at Miller Brewing Company, retiring with 29 years of service. Jerry loved the outdoors, singing and spending time with family. He was a member of the Crossroad Fellowship SDA Church in Joshua.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty Ayars of Cleburne; children, Margie Field Studdard and husband Gary of Cleburne, Marsha Lynch Carter and husband Lance of Mansfield, Thomas Wayne Ayars and wife, Amy of Clermont, FL and Lawrence Lennon Ayars and wife Toni of Cleburne; grandchildren, Hilary and husband Lee, Jamie and husband J., Ryan and wife Joy, Lauren and husband Bret, Christie and husband Tom, Tamara and husband Dusty, Tiffany and husband Nick, Thomas, Alli and Tyler; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Parrot; and sister-in-law, Billie Ayars. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Monty Ayars; brothers, Richard Ayars and Phillip Ayars; sister, Betty Sue Hodnett; and former wife, Otemah McDonald.
