Graveside services for Jerry Douglas Porter, 78, of Cleburne, will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Thursday, June 6, 2024, in the Rosehill Cemetery, Cleburne, Texas. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 4-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the funeral home.
Jerry Douglas Porter passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born to Luther and Lorraine “Jane” Hudson Porter on June 24, 1945, in Cleburne, Texas. Jerry served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He worked 23 years with Santa Fe Railroad and then another 21 years with Comanche Peak. He was a member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God Church, Cleburne. On October 29, 1985, he married Judy Mae Bowen. They were married 38 years at the time of his passing. Jerry has been described as a man who loved the outdoors, especially camping and working in his yard. He was a gun enthusiast and a master of sheet metal fabrication. He spent countless hours in his shop working on his skills. Jerry was a music man as well, playing both the guitar and piano. He was also a chess player. Jerry was a kind man, devoted to his family. His love of life, music and many lessons in working hard will be fondly remembered by all who loved him. He will be missed greatly. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents (listed above); and daughter, Amy Abbott.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Judy Porter; children, Darren Porter, Larry Rochford & his wife, Treshal, Louise Lemmond, and Ashley Garcia & her husband, Toby; grandsons, Daniel Rochford & his wife, Keely, Caleb Rochford, Jadon Rochford, Easton Abbott, Gunner Abbott, Derrek Porter, and Christopher Porter; great grandchildren, Gavin York and Anna Rochford; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
