Service for Jerry “Strawberry “ Decker, 65, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 24, 2016 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Ken Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. As a tribute to Strawberry, all his family and friends are invited to drive their classic cars and hot rods to the service. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Jerry “Strawberry” Decker passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 in Ft. Worth. He was born Dec. 19, 1950 in Cleburne to Billy Earl and Marion Laverne Cummings Decker. He married Judy Williams on Nov. 13, 1987 in Cleburne.
Strawberry was a passionate man who enjoyed anything classic, including building hot rods and collecting music. He owned and operated Strawberry’s Auto Service in Cleburne for more than 25 years and had the reputation of being a fair and honest mechanic who had a passion for his work. He was also a craftsman of cigar box guitars. Strawberry had a genuine love for people and never met a stranger. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 29 years, Judy Decker; daughters, Chelsea Ford and husband James and Channing Decker; son, Dylan Decker; grandchildren, A-Jay Ford, Hagen Ford, Hanna Manasco, and Carter Decker; brother, Larry Decker and wife Lynn; his beloved dog, Radar; several nieces and nephews; extended family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Connie.
