Jimmie and his sister, Barbara were to move around many, many times during their young lives having lived in Oak Grove, Louisiana, McCamey, Texas and finally ending up back in Fort Worth.
Jimmie became an electrician in 1951 and was a 58 years member of IBEW Local #116. For several years Jimmie owned and operated his own electrical company (F&M Electric).
Jimmie married Helen Harvey in October 1968. They moved to Cleburne in 1976 where they had purchased a small acreage and built their home west of Cleburne.
In August 1993, Jimmie retired from the electrical trade and began to enjoy what he loved to do the most, work on old cars. He was member of the Lone Star Early Ford V-8 Club and the North Texas Chapter of the Buick Club of America. He enjoyed traveling to different states every year to attend National meets. He also enjoyed going to all of the swap meets in the area. He had an extraordinary knowledge of old cars.
A longtime Methodist, Jimmie joined St. Mark United Methodist Church and became very active in the Methodist Men and other activities of the church as long as his health permitted. He loved the Fidelas Sunday School class and the Wednesday Morning Bible study in particular.
Jimmie was the most kind, gentle, courteous, gracious, caring person and was always willing to help anyone who needed help.
"God saw he was getting tired,
a cure was not to be
So He put his arms around him and whispered
"Come with me"
with tearful eyes we saw him go.
and softly fade away,
and though we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating.
Hard working hands at rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best."
