Joan Holliday

Joan Alsup Holliday, 84, passed away Monday, April 29, 2014 in Alvarado. She was born May 10, 1929 in Walnut Springs to James and Lottie Mounce Alsup.

Ms. Holliday worked as a telephone operator, retiring from Southwestern Bell with more than 25 years of dedicated service. She was a very happy lady who enjoyed gardening and reading her Bible. Joan was of the Christian faith. Her caring nature and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Robin E. Lawrence and James Jim Holliday; grandchildren, Christopher A. Pennington and Amy E. Lawrence; siblings, Nina Chapman, Nelda Bailey, Jean Ragland, James Alsup, Lois Dunn and Carolyn Alsup; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
