A celebration of life honoring JoAnn G. McDonald will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 4:30 P.M. at Gateway Church of Grand Prairie. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home, located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX. from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

JoAnn McDonald, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dear friend, passed away on March 30, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on February 21, 1951, in Abilene, Texas. JoAnn was a pillar of strength and faith, known affectionately as a prayer warrior by those who knew her.

JoAnn dedicated over 50 years of her life to teaching elementary school, where she specialized in reading and dyslexia. Her passion for education inspired countless young minds, reflecting her unwavering commitment to nurturing the potential in others. Beyond her professional accomplishments, JoAnn was a gifted pianist whose musical talents brought joy to many. Traveling was another of JoAnn's great joys, as she cherished the moments spent exploring new places with her family. She embraced her role as "Grammy" with great dedication, fostering love and warmth in the hearts of her grandchildren.

JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, Alan McDonald, with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage; her daughters, Laura (McDonald) Slackney and her husband Jason, and Heather (McDonald) Martin and her husband Jeremy; grandchildren, Shelby Martin, Jackson Martin, Alexander Slackney, Grant Slackney, and Victoria Slackney.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Cullen and Billie Gunn, and her brother, Ted Gunn. Her legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

JoAnn McDonald will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

The family has requested that flowers be sent to Gateway Church in Grand Prairie, 2404 N. Carrier Parkway, Grand Prairie, Texas.
