Service for Joanne “Jo” Treece Burgess, 82, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 8, 2016 at North Cleburne Baptist Church. Reverend Keith Whitt will officiate. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Rives, Travis Hart, Aaron Rives, Cody Jones, Jack Brown, Jr., Don Reagan, and Clinton Todd Burgess. Honorary pallbearer will be Tony Ray Burgess, Jr. “T.R.” Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home.
Joanne “Jo” Treece Burgess passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 in Cleburne. She was born Nov. 29, 1933 in Cleburne to Daniel Wright and Jessie Carmon Blevins Treece. She married Robert E. Burgess on Nov. 7, 1953 in Mineral Wells and he preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. Burgess was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grand, great grand, great- great grandmother, sister, and a friend to many. She enjoyed cooking and was said to be a very good cook. Among her other interests were gardening, canning, and playing bingo and the slots. She was a longtime member of North Cleburne Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Rives of Cleburne; son, Tony Burgess of Joshua; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lou Reagan and Carolyn Brown and husband Jack; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Joanna Lynn Jones in 1989; son, Robert Keith Burgess in 1993; grandson, Bryan Jones in 2015; two brothers, Daniel Wright Treece, III and Tony Lewis Treece; and three sisters, Jewel Dean Pugh, Arleita Treece, and Norene Starr.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to assist in purchasing a headstone for Joanne.
