Service for Joe Neal Poteet, 83, of Blum, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Dr. Andy Tyler will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Trystan Poteet, Trevor Fisher, Ryon Fenn, Shayne Linville, Shelby Linville and Travis Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Roye, Joe Roye Poteet and Jake Bow Poteet
Joe passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 in Fort Worth. He was born December 11, 1937 in Johnson County to James Thomas (Tommy) and Ludie Emma Hunt Poteet. He married Shirley Ann Roye on September 3, 1965 in Blum. Joe was the owner and operator of his dairy for 32 years. He was a long time member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Joe enjoyed fishing and hunting until his health declined, but what he enjoyed the most was his family. He cherished every minute he spent with his children and grandchildren. Joe served his country in the Army National Guard 49th Armored Division.
Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Poteet of Blum; son, Tim Poteet and wife LaDonna of Blum; daughter, Amy Poteet of Blum; grandchildren, Trystan Poteet of Gentry, Arkansas, Trevor Fisher of Chicago, Illinois, Joe Roye Poteet, Jake Bow Poteet, Abigayle Grace Poteet and Isaiah Thomas Poteet all of Blum; niece, Sherry Chabolla of Spring Hill, Tennessee; great niece, Kimberly Kaufman and husband Gregg of College Grove, Tennessee and great nephew, Nathan Chabolla and wife Jenny of Corona, California.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glenn Thomas Poteet.
