Service for Joe Weldon Rigsby, 82, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, May 29, 2011 in the Westhill Church of Christ. Mr. Jerry Nelson and Mr. Burt Northcutt will officiate. Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in Greenacres Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Scotty Rigsby, Taylor Rigsby, Matt Stalcup, Lance Medford, Chris Vidrine and Michael Vidrine Jr. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Rigsby passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 in Cleburne. He was born September 19, 1928 in San Augustine, Texas to Lewis and Lottie Harvey Rigsby. He married Patricia Mary Vidrine on Dec. 6, 2008 in Round Rock, Texas.
Mr. Rigsby served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was a retired microbiologist for Walls Regional Hospital laboratory, where he also worked as a medical investigator. He was an author of books and poems and a member of the Cleburne Writer's Club. Mr. Rigsby was member of the Westhill Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Mary Rigsby of Cleburne; daughters, Deborah Adams of Cedar Hill, Jana Medford of Midlothian, Lora Johnson of Blum and Elyse Vidrine of Houston; sons, Darren Rigsby of Odessa, Richard D. Vidrine Sr. of Georgetown and Mike W. Vidrine Sr. and David K. Vidrine Sr., both of Houston; grandchildren, Ty Rigsby, Courtney Rigsby, Jodi Davis, Lydia Lawson, Ethan Johnson, Kristi Stalcup, Misti Diggs, Lance Medford, Tori Johnson, Caleb Rigsby, Matt and Anna Falls, Rick Vidrine Jr., Chris Vidrine, Michael W. Vidrine Jr., David K. Vidrine Jr. and Andrea Vidrine, Tiffany Rempel and Brian Saldivar; 11 great grandchildren and one brother, Larry Rigsby. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willeta Rigsby; parents, Lewis and Lottie Rigsby; two brothers, Lewis E. Rigsby and Billy E. Rigsby.
