Rosary and Funeral Mass for John Anthony “Tony” Doerr, 69, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 23, 2016 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Sergio Rizo will officiate.
John Anthony “Tony” Doerr passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 in Ft. Worth. He was born October 14, 1946 in Dallas to Anton J. and Katherine Giesen Doerr. He married Betty Chadwick on June 12, 1982 and had lived in the Cleburne area of Johnson County for 69 years.
Mr. Doerr attended Liberty Chapel Elementary School, was inducted in the National Honor Society in March of 1964 and graduated Cleburne High School in 1965 with honors. As a sophomore electrical engineer major at Arlington State College, he received the Ling-Temco- Vought Cooperative Scholarship in January of 1966 and graduated with a 2.8 college grade average out of a possible 3.0. John also did a co-op with Ling-Temco-Vought in May-August of 1968.
He was a member of the Texas ETA Chapter of Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society in November of 1968 and March of 1969 and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in May of 1970. John earned a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering on May 13, 1970 and a Master of Science of Bio Medical Engineering on May 17, 1974.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty Doerr of Cleburne; son, Jerry Higdon; daughter, Sandra Weiss; beloved pets, Sweetie and Maggie; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and cousins, Timmy, Bobby, Freddie and David. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Anton and Louise Doerr and Charles and Levine Giesen; and one cousin, Jimmy Doerr.
