John Giddings

My dad died Monday morning January 8, 2018 at 04:00 in Cleburne, TX surrounded by his wife of 47 years, Anne Giddings, his oldest son, Lucas, and myself, Philip. We were gathered around his bedside at Texas Health Cleburne that morning to arrange for his peaceful passage into sleep. The breathing tube had been removed a couple of hours prior and my dad was able to see that the family he'd devoted his adult life to providing for was surrounding him with our hands upon him. He was able speak to each one of us personally one last time and assure us that he was ready to go. He thanked my mom for a good 47 years. We prayed with him. I asked for God to give him warmth. His breathing became more shallow and farther apart. Although his body became cold the look on his face suggested that he had found that warmth that only God can give. He died with a more relaxed peaceful look on his face than I had ever seen. I'm so grateful for my dad. I'm so happy my dad could go to sleep knowing the most important people in his life were standing next to him and that most of all he could face that moment with peace and warmth. We are very blessed to believe that our heavenly Father gave his life so that we could all stand together with him someday. Oh how he loves us all.

Surviving Family: wife: Anne, sons: Luke & Philip, daughter-in-law: Storie, grandchildren: Anthem, Solace, Beckon, and Banner. Siblings: Mary, Burt, Jane and Jim.
