John Moore

Service for John Edward Moore, 86 of Keene, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Grandview. The Reverend Russell Allen will officiate. Burial will be in the Bourland Cemetery in Keller. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Moore entered his Heavenly Home on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 in Keene. He was born July 7, 1927 in Denver, Colo., to Robert Gordon and Alice Eva Barwise Moore. He was married to Joella Brownlee for 37 years. After her passing, he married Helen Moore of Euless and enjoyed her company until his passing.

Mr. Moore was a pastor, teacher, husband and father. John called Grandview home for many years. He obtained his masters degree in religious education from Southwestern Theological Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth and also had a master degree in education from North Texas State University. He worked for four years with the Billy Graham movie ministry. In the early 1960s he served as Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Burleson. Mr. Moore went on to teach elementary school in Alvarado on the late 1980s and was elected mayor of Alvarado in the mid 1980s. Johns love for the Lord and his desire to see others come to know Jesus was the passion of his life.

He is survived by sons John William Moore and wife Connie of Albuquerque, NM and Thomas Joseph Moore of Alvarado; daughters, Judi Sagar and husband Bob of Tuscon, AZ and Donna Boyd and husband J.R. of Huntsville; 9 grandchildren, Greg, John, Brad, Jaimie, Jodie, Tina, Marie, Kristi and Kendra; and 11 great grandchildren, Kadyn, Cassidy, Kaylee, Avery, Lucas, Cooper, Kolton, Kason, Korbyn, Zoey and Levi are part of his legacy. He is also survived by one brother, Joe Moore and wife Ann of Brenham and five sisters, Pat Franke of Orange Grove, Roberta Cornelius of Alice, Doty Blount and husband James of Denison, Miriam Miller and husband Charles of Austin and Joannie Wenetschlaeger and husband Jack of San Angelo.
