John Roye

Services for John Eldon Roye, 81 of Grandview will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will be in the Greenacres Memorial Park. The Reverend Alton Harwell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brent Landers, Justin Gibson, Tyler Gibson, Rex Long, Michael McCoy and Glenn Copeland. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Roye passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 in Ft. Worth. He was born March 14, 1928 in the Goatneck Community in Johnson County to William Marvin and Angie Pearl Anderson Roye. He married Virginia Newsom on January 22, 1954 in Weatherford. He was a carman for the Santa Fe Railroad for 40 years and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Cleburne Elks Lodge #811 and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Roye is survived by his wife, Virigina Roye of Grandview; son, Dick Landers of Grandview; daughter, Teresa McCoy and fiance Charles Matthews of Grandview; brothers: H.A. Roye of Blum, Junior Roye and wife Wilma of Rio Vista and Leo Roye and wife Marie of Rio Vista; sisters, Azlee West of Blum, Violet Copeland of Longview and Wanda Harwell and husband Kenneth of Silsbee; 8 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 9 great grandsons, 3 great granddaughters and many nieces, nephews and best friends, Bee and Claud Worlow of Cleburne. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Walter Landers and brothers, Raymond, James Richard and Travis Roye
