Service for John Aubrey Salmans, 80, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Pastor Willie Stevenson and Mr. Steve Shaffer will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Lyles, Todd Richardson, John Salmans III, Allen Salmans, James Gatlin, Michael Rurak, Lane Salmans, Dylan Adams and James Salmans. Visitation will be Friday, September 24, 2021 at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
John passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Community Hospice House in Burleson. He was born on June 01, 1941 to Wesley Aubrey and Opal (Hubbard) Salmans in Lawton, Oklahoma. John married Aretes Goebel on May 03, 1960 in Kamay, Texas. He was of the Baptist faith. John served 8 years in the United States Air Force as a Communication Specialist, serving alongside the original astronauts at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas. Following his military service, he returned home to Cleburne, where he retired after 24 years with Lone Star Gas Company. He will be missed greatly but the family is comforted knowing he joins his beloved wife in Heaven.
John is survived by his daughters, Teresa Bednar and husband, Mark of Cleburne and Lori Chalmers of Glen Rose; son, John A. “Butch” Salmans, Jr. and wife Michelle of Emory, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Dustin, Amanda, Todd, John, Lindsey, Tiffnei, Allen, Kali and Michael; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Teena Smith and husband, Jim; brothers, Sam Glover, Jr. and wife, Charlinda and Wesley A. Salmans, Jr. and wife Barbie; numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Aretes Salmans; his parents; sister, Frances Glover and stepfather, Sam Glover, Sr.
