John Trussell
Service for John W. Trussell, Jr., 89, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 1, 2012 in the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Rev. Charles E. Payne will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 P.M. Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to any disabled veteran organization of the giver's choice.
Mr. Trussell passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 in Cleburne. He was born January 13, 1923 in Argyle, Texas to John W. Sr. and Essie Jane Skeen Trussell. He married Betty Jane Eastus on January 26, 1946 in Cleburne. He served in the United States Army during World War II, where he not only received numerous medals and awards for his service as a Paratrooper with the 11th Airborne, but was a member of General McArthur's honor guard at the signing of Japan's surrender. Mr. Trussell was passionate about life, but especially about his family, God, country, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was known as the "mayor" of Heritage Trails Nursing Home. He was a devoted Christian, spending countless hours reading his Bible, enjoying gospel music or attending Bible study. He grew up in the East Henderson Street Baptist Church and later attended Faith Temple as an adult. John also enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and will be missed greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and six siblings.
Survivors include his sons, Mike Trussell and his wife, Laura and Mark Trussell and his wife, LeAnn; grandchildren, Tori Williams and her husband, Jordan, Dustin Trussell and his wife, Nichole, Amanda Trussell, Jonathan Trussell, Logan Cain, Sarah Cain, Rebecca Cain, and Meagan Trussell; great grandchildren, Claye, Dylan, Brody, Cy, Canyon, and Gracie; siblings, Alvin Trussell and Mary Sue Vasquez; numerous generations of nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
