John Wilkes

Service for John A. Wilkes, Jr., 90, of Blum, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will be in the Blum Cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Mr. Wilkes passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in Blum. He was born August 20, 1920 in Rotan to John Arthur, Sr. and Della Price Wilkes. He married Daisy Crow on November 25, 1940 in Stanton.

Mr. Wilkes served proudly in the United States Army Air Corp. He was a member for over 50 years in the Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite and a member for over 50 years of the Ruth Chapter #20 Order of the Eastern Star, where he has been Worthy Patron 12 times, also past Master of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Kopperl United Methodist Church.

Mr. Wilkes is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Daisy Wilkes of Blum; three sons, John A. Wilkes, III and wife Gina of Sulphur Springs, Jackie Don Wilkes and Traci Hopkins of Midland and Kevin Lee Wilkes and wife Tena of Sulphur Springs; 11 grandchildren, Gaylene, Shana, Jay, Josh, Candice, Brandon, Crystal, J.R., Garrett, Brandi and Cody; 11 great grandchildren and twin great-great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Kay Wilkes; 2 infant children, Jeanette and George Wilkes; one brother; three sisters and his parents.
