John Wilkin
Service for John Charles Wilkin, 66, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11:00 Monday, October 7, 2013 in the Westhill Church of Christ. Mr. Kern Porter will officiate. Burial will follow at 3:00 P.M. in Nubbin Ridge Cemetery in Granbury. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
John Charles Wilkin passed away Friday, October 04, 2013 in Cleburne. He was born November 21, 1946 in McAllen, Texas to Norman Ellwood and Sylvia Lucille Lowry Wilkin. He married Becky Withers on November 6, 1970 at Westside Church of Christ in Cleburne.
Mr. Wilkin graduated from Cleburne High School in 1966, studied drafting at AT&T and also attended the Ft Worth School of Business. Mr. Wilkin worked as an AutoCAD draftsman at Parson’s Engineering and at Comanche Peak for 18 years.
John was a history buff who loved to watch westerns, the History Channel and enjoyed woodworking. He was a family man in every sense of the word and invested in relationships with those he loved. Pappy loved to swing the granddaughters. He was a quiet man and a great debater, who sometimes had a loud bark and no bite. John drove the church bus for many years and was very dedicated to serving the church in any way possible. He was a member of Westhill Church of Christ. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Wilkin; children, Matthew Lee Wilkin and wife Angie Allen and Amanda Waddell and husband Josh; grandchildren, Emma Wilkin, Amelia Waddell and Adalyn Waddell; siblings-in-law, Rhonda Holden and husband Rick, Wayne Holly and wife Kay, Jerry Gardner and Don Lackey; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Robert Matthew Wilkin, Betty Lackey and Bessie Theresa Gardner; and parents-in-law, L.E. and Jo Ann Holly.
