Johnny Edwards

Funeral services for Johnny L. Edwards, 77, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Parkinson Foundation at www.parkinson.org .

Johnny passed away in Fort Worth on Saturday, August 10, 2013. He was born to Frank and Zollie Martin Edwards on August 21, 1935 in Sand Flat, Texas. He married Donna L. Dyer on June 13, 1964 in Goatneck, Texas. Johnny was of Christian faith. He worked over 22 years in the industrial manufacturing business, retiring in management with Parker Hannifin. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and countless hours of bird watching. He was known for being a jokester, always having the ability to make others laugh. “PaPaw”, as his grandchildren know him, was a family man in every sense of the phrase and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. His laughter and loving nature will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Edwards and Zollie Elrod; daughter, Louise Edwards; sister, Cecil Edwards; and brother, Billy Edwards.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Donna Edwards; daughters, Sheri Edwards and Audrey Cowan and her husband, Micah; grandchildren, Madeline and Thomas; siblings, Betty Verker, Ruth “Shabo” Carroll, Troy Johnson, Mildred Otwell, James Edwards, and Charles Lee Edwards; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends, including family friend and “adopted” son, Ed McClellan.
