Services for Johnny Lee Pitts, 87, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday,

November 30, 2007 in the First Baptist Church in Godley. Reverend Kenneth Coleman and Dr. Charles Price will officiate. Burial will be in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Joe Stephens. Pallbearers will be Jim Hallman, Gerald R. James, Jr., John Charles Pitts, Robert Fred Pitts, John Martin Stephens, II and Charles Wells. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bell, Edward Moreno and Paul Papathanasou and Dennis Linam, VP for External Affairs, Dallas Baptist University.

Johnny Lee Pitts passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007 in Cleburne. She was born September 9, 1920 in Eden, TX to Elmer Lee and Olive Zola Schafer Stephens. She married Dr. Charles P. Pitts on July 27, 1937 in Brownwood, TX. She graduated from Howard-Payne University in 1962.

Mrs. Pitts was a minister's wife for 65 years. She supported her husband through his service as a WWII Army Combat Chaplain and as pastor of First Baptist Church of Hebronville, First Baptist Church of Laredo, First Baptist Church of Joshua, First Baptist Church of Cleburne and Highland Baptist Church of Dallas. She served as the president's wife during Dr. Pitts's tenure as president of the Dallas Baptist University in 1967 thru 1974. She devoted her life to the Greater Glory of God, Country and her family in each of these capacities. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Godley.

Johnny Lee Pitts is survived by her sister, Shirley Stephens Martin and husband Jack of San Antonio; brother, Lewis Stephens and wife Barbara of Dallas; sister, Virginia Stephens James and husband Gerald R., Sr. of Dallas; sister in law, Johnny Beth Pitts of Brownwood; nephews and nieces, Sheri Martin Price of San Antonio, John Martin Stephens, II of Murphy, Elizabeth Stephens Wickman of Wichita, KA, Gerald R. James, Jr. of Dallas, Jennifer James Lamberth of Rockwall, John Charles Pitts of Brownwood, Robert Fred Pitts of Brownwood and a dear friend, Mary Moreno of Granbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles P. Pitts on July 19, 2002.

Visitation will be at the funeral home, Thursday, from 6-8 P.M.
