Memorial service for Joseph M. Herndon, 68, of Cleburne, will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2011 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Cliff Herrington will officiate.
Joseph M. Herndon passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 near Cleburne. He was born March 23, 1943 in San Diego, CA to Earnest D. and Frances Calabria Herndon. He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University where he happily sang with the Singing Cadets. During his time with them, they sang at the White House and also appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show." He earned his Master's Degree from Sam Houston State University. He married Patsy Inglehart on March 25, 1967 in Navasota, TX. They raised two sons, Scott Herndon of Dallas and Chad Herndon of Cleburne.
Mr. Herndon served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and following his release from active duty, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps reserve, where he attained the rank of Sgt. Maj. before retiring in 1991. His career took him to Spring, Conroe, Dickinson and Cleburne where he served as teacher, assistant principal, principal and maintenance director. At the time of his death he was a project manager for Johnson Controls on the campus of Weatherford College in Weatherford, Texas. He was of the Baptist faith.
Joseph Herndon is survived by his wife, Patsy Herndon of Cleburne; sons, Scott K Herndon of Dallas and Chad T. Herndon of Cleburne; brothers, Jack Herndon and wife Nancy of Corpus Christi and David Herndon of San Diego; a number of nieces and nephews; co-workers and many friends.
