Graveside service for Joyce Jeanette Horton Day, 72, homemaker of Ft. Worth will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 19, 2012 in the Rosehill Cemetery. Chaplain Kenny Horton will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Myers, Tyler Myers, Johnny Perez, Timmy Howe, Marty Hussong, Kevin Yale, Justin Hanks and Jason Everidge. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Day passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 in Ft. Worth. She was born Dec. 16, 1939 in Kaufman County, Texas to Jesse Duane Hussong and Florence Estelle Newland Dilleshaw. She married Jerry Day in Nov. of 1983 in Oklahoma. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Day was known as a firecracker. She loved to dance, camp, and attend play day activities in her younger years. She was a huge Coca-Cola fan, always drinking hers from a bottle, not a can. She enjoyed spending time shopping and visiting with family and friends on the phone. She took great joy in children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joyce's independent spirit and giving nature will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Danny Dilleshaw; and grandson, Steven Horton.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Vickie and T.J. Howe, Terry Horton, and Melissa and Wayne Myers; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; siblings, Wanda Sherman, James Hussong and wife Sherry, Hayden Dilleshaw and wife Frances, and Gayla Rice and husband Frank; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends, including her first love and former husband, Gene Horton.
