Joyce McCurdy

Graveside service for Joyce Lain McCurdy, 86, of Arlington, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 7, 2023, in Baker-Lain Cemetery with Reverend Steve Mullin officiating.

Joyce passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, in Arlington. She was born November 12, 1936, in Bono to Cravin Mills (C.M.) and Beatrice Eudell (Carlock) Lain. Joyce was of the Baptist faith. She married Lester Lee McCurdy on April 1, 1960 in Goatneck Community, Texas. Joyce retired from Chase Bank of Fort Worth. She was easy to love and giving of her time, talents and resources. She was a people person but also a private lady who believed in honoring others’ privacy as well. Joyce had an independent streak, strong will and was easy to love! She had a way of making those she loved, as well as all her nieces and nephews feel like they were “her favorite.” She was everyone’s keeper of secrets and never a gossiper. Joyce was an even-tempered, laid-back country girl who enjoyed mowing and gardening. She also enjoyed trips to gamble and going to family reunions. Joyce will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Peggy Bryant; nieces and nephews, John Lain, Ken Lain, Debbie Parker, Joe Lain, Jr., Georgia Garland, Pam Robinson, Carol Carpenter, Sherry Edwards, Glenna Standish, and David Bryant; 18 great nieces and nephews; numerous great-great- nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Joe Lain and George Lain.
