Memorial services for Julius Lloyd Garner, 81, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 9, 2012 in the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel.
Mr. Garner passed away at his home in Cleburne, surrounded by loved ones on Monday, August 6, 2012. He was born on January 31, 1931 in Kerens, Texas to Julius Goldsmith and Dona Lee Davis Garner. Lloyd worked as a welder with Lennox Industries for over 28 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He married the love of his life, Nellie Belle Foust on February 1, 1958 in Cleburne. Lloyd enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and writing both songs and poems. He was a lover of nature, especially of rainy days and birds. It can be said that he put laughter in the hearts of those he loved. Lloyd's gentle spirit and great sense of humor will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Dorothy Webb.
Survivors include his son, James (Jim) Garner; adopted daughter and niece, Mary Gates; grandchildren, Ara Jones, Michael Oliver, Robert Gates Jr., and Kevin Gates; great grandson, Tristen Jones; siblings, Mildred Todd, Agnes Bjerke, Peggy Basham, Victor Garner, Diane Prater, and Phyllis Whiteside; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
