J.W. Harwell

Services for J.W. Harwell, Jr., 85, of Rio Vista, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Rev. Alton Harwell will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Hackler, Mike Hall, Todd Hall, Richard Harwell, Tony Harwell and Jeff Harwell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Sims and Cody Harwell.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Harwell went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009 in Ft. Worth. He was born March 18, 1924 in Alvarado to James Wesley Sr. and Stella Ann Wiley Harwell. He married Edna Marie Matthews on June 14, 1947 in Cleburne.
He was retired from Winn Dixie Supermarket and was of the Baptist faith.
J. W. Harwell is survived by his wife, Marie Harwell of Rio Vista; children, Weldon Harwell and wife, Jean of Waxahachie and Mary Jean Sims and husband, Jacky, of Cedar Hill; 3 grandchildren, Scott Sims and wife, Julie and Cody and Carrie Harwell; 2 great-grandchildren, Lacey Marie Sims and Grayson Scott Sims; brothers, Bill Harwell, Kenneth Harwell and wife, Wanda and Alfred Harwell and wife Carolyn; sisters, Edna Hackler, Betty Hall and husband Wayman, Nancy Hutchison and husband, Hoss, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Stanley Harwell. A special thank you from the family to: Cleburne Dialysis Center, Community Hospice of Burleson, Dr. Asa Dean and Dr. Edward Kennedy for the loving care provided to Mr. Harwell.
