Katherine Elmore

Services for Katherine Jordan Elmore, 83, lifelong resident of Cleburne, will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in the Nolan River Road Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday in the funeral home.

Katherine passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in Fort Worth. She was born to Jack and Mattie Bell Israel Jordan on June 3, 1928 in Johnson County. Katherine married the love of her life, Lester Cooper Elmore, on January 9, 1946 in Stephenville. She took great pride in being a homemaker. Katherine was a dedicated Christian, taking every opportunity to spread the gospel to others. She taught Sunday school for a number of years and was a member of the Nolan River Road Baptist Church. Her family was her focus next to her faith. She had a gift for making sure each grandchild and great grandchild felt special. She was known as "Mother Cookies" to many. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, baking, and going on picnics. Katherine's loving nature and giving spirit will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Lester Cooper Elmore; children, Carolyn Elmore Smithwick, Michael Elmore and his wife, Cathy, and Jone Elmore Newcomb and her husband, Jim; grandchildren, George, Randy, Scotty, Kristyn, Corey, Angie, Susan, Paige, Robyn, Kyle, and Katy; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; sister, Nelda Jo Winsett; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
