Kenneth Ray Dunson passed from this life on October 11, 2023 in Cleburne, Texas. He was 90 years old.
Kenneth was born in Vernon, Texas on November 14, 1932, the youngest child of J.O. and Vela Dunson. The family moved to Cleburne in the early 1940’s and Kenneth graduated from Cleburne High School in 1950 and that same summer, married a classmate, his deeply beloved Betty, on June 30, They were together for 64 years.
Kenneth was a railroader for 40 years, but his greater loyalty lay with the land, farming life of soil and sun. He loved to see things grow: the crops in the fields, the cattle in the pasture, the children of his house-and then, their children; his friendships and the relationship at his church.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Bryant Dunson, sister Doris Doak and his wife Betty.
Survivors included sons Michael Dunson of Belton, Dave Dunson of Cleburne, daughter Jan Hardwick and husband David, of Belton; grandchildren Cassie, Jacob (and Cindy), John David, Glenn (and Kerbi), Sharon (and Britt), Sam (and Stephanie); great-granddaughters Ava, Hadley and Reagan; niece, Linda Farmer and numerous friends whom he loved as family.
Kenneth Dunson is mourned but also celebrated for his lifetime of selfless good works and his love for all who knew him.
Service will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 16, 2023 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne. Visitation will be 3-5:00 P.M., Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the funeral home.
