Service for Larry Ross Barkman, 76, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 13, 2016 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Brooks Monk will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Hazlewood, John Warren, Gary Lackey, Harold Gross and Thomas Barlow. Honorary pallbearer will be Greg Wilmore. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Larry Ross Barkman passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in Ft. Worth. He was born December 25, 1939 in Hustontown, PA to Ross Edward and Hazel Reeder Barkman. Larry was a 1961 graduate of Penn State University with a civil engineering degree. He married Rosie Lee Hammack on March 3, 1967 in Big Spring.
Mr. Barkman was a Captain in the United States Air Force and was the Assistant City Manager for the City of Cleburne, retiring in 2006 with over 20 years of service to the City of Cleburne. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Rosie Barkman of Cleburne; three children, Patrick Barkman and wife Nadine of Burleson, Pamela Gross and husband Harold of Alvarado and Phillip Barkman of Euless; grandsons, Clinton Irwinsky and wife Krysta of Venus, PFC. Justice Barkman, Texas Army National Guard, and Caleb Barkman, both of Cleburne, and Alex Tipton and Isaiah Barkman, both of Burleson; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Sanders of Arlington; and one great grandson, Cooper Irwinsky of Venus. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Paul Eugene Barkman and Priscilla Barkman; two brothers, Robert and Jack Barkman; and two sisters, Betty Luther and Evelyn Laidig.
