Service for Larry D. Hanna, 72, of Godley will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006 in the First Baptist Church of Godley. Mr. Ryan Reagan, Rev. Sally Fleming and Rev. Kenneth Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Willis, Lyle Reagan, Curry Reagan, Ronnie West, Pete Devaney, Ed Knight, Melvin Robinson, Billy Hallman and Jack Rowland. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Hanna Dairy Family, Air Traffic Controller Friends, C.W. Vest, Robert Greenfield, John Ed Brothers, Jeff England, Carlos Decker, Bill Lee, J.R. Ganong, Bob Savage, Sam Hardcastle, Darrell Orrell and Dr. Bob Waldron.
Mr. Hanna, a Godley-area dairyman and retired air traffic controller, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 in Cleburne following an extended illness. He was born Aug. 21, 1933 in Johnson County, TX. to Herbert D. and Willie Mae Cannon Hanna. He was a graduate of Godley High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Japan. He married Dorothy Irene Evans on Aug. 30, 1956 in Cleburne. Mr. Hanna was employed by the Federal Aviation Association from 1959 unitl his retirement in 1983. Prior to his death he owned and operated with his family, Hanna Dairy in Godley.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Godley and a member of the Masonic Lodge. His love for the land and agriculture earned him and his family Johnson County's Agricultural Family of The Year in 1991.
Mr. Hanna is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Hanna of Godley; daughter, Letha Lynn Carmichall and husband Brett of Cleburne; son, David Evans Hanna and wife, Andrea of Godley; grandchildren, Megan Carmichall, Hoston Hanna and Cheyenne Connally, and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Denzal Jean Hanna Reagan and a brother, Ronald Lee Hanna.
