Laverne Decker

Services for Laverne Decker, 78, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Decker passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 in Fort Worth. She was born to Jesse Clinton and Alma Weeks Cummings on October 27, 1931 in Johnson County. She married Billy Earl Decker on April 30, 1950 in Somervell County. Laverne graduated from Cleburne High School and worked as a sales clerk for Burr's 5&10 Cents Store and Woolworth's both also in Cleburne. Laverne worked as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, but her most important job was as a homemaker. She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years and member of the Joy Class. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Decker in 1993; and daughter, Connie Decker in 1970.


Survivors include her children, Jerry (Strawberry) Decker and wife, Judy, Larry Decker and wife, Lynn, and Nancy Abel and husband, Joe; brother, Leroy (Buddy) Cummings; grandchildren, Chris Humphries, Chelsea Ford and husband, James; Channing Decker, Dylan Decker, Lara Arnold and husband, KoDee, and Landon Decker and wife, Amber; great grandchildren, A.J. Ford, Hagen Ford, Cason Arnold and Tanner Arnold; several nieces and nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
