Lecil Johnson, 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, in Waco. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2006 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Tawater and Rev. Jerrell Elston officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Born October 9, 1917 in the community of Fall Creek, Lecil was the son of Edgar D. and Minnie Henslee Johnson. He was a longtime resident of Cleburne and a member of the Lone Willow Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years. Lecil retired from the Santa Fe Railroad with thirty-two years of service. He is fondly remembered as a devout Christian and a loving father and husband. Lecil married the love of his life, Fredda James, January 14, 1939 and they shared more than sixty-seven years of happiness. Lecil was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, J. C. Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson. In addition to his wife, Lecil is survived by sons, Vernon Johnson and wife Bonnie of Burleson, Dennis Johnson and wife Ruby of Cleburne; daughters, Lynda Prnka and husband Leonard of Waco and Glenda Dunn and husband Ricky of Robinson; eleven grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Murlin Johnson, O'Neal Johnson and Sidney E. Johnson, and many other family and friends who dearly loved him. Pallbearers are Ken Baker, Doye Baker, Jr., Devin Johnson, Jon Nelson, Curtis Petzold and Craig Obenoskey. Lecil fought the good fight, he finished his course, he kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7.
