Lenox Shelton

Services for Lenox Edward "Rooster" Shelton, 83, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Rev. Charles Payne and Dr. Carl Baugh will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be R.C. McFall, J.C. Elerson, Roy Bosher, Robert Bearden, Michael Lain and Joe Robinson. Nonorary Pallbearer is Charles Ray Cain.

Lenox Edward "Rooster" Shelton passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2006, in Cleburne. He was born October 18, 1923, in Grandview to Edward and Julia Cain Shelton. He married Thelmarene Nutt on May 27, 1948, in Cleburne.

Mr. Shelton graduated from Grandview High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 34 years as a carman and an inspector. He was a member and former deacon of Calvary Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Lenox Edward Shelton is survived by his wife, Thelmarene Shelton of Cleburne; sons, Lyndon Keith Shelton of Cleburne and Lenox Kent Shelton and wife Tina of Manvel, TX; daughters, Renee' Shelton Spahr and husband Richard of Alvarado and Kathryn Shelton Suits and husband Keith of Cleburne; sister Francis Shelton Lyons and husband Charlie of Cleburne; grandchildren, Kassandra McCuddy of Welston, OK, Kerrie Spahr of Whitney, Kelly Spahr of Arlington, Benton Suits of Cleburne, Samantha Shelton of Manvel and Roseann Shelton of Manvel; nine great-grandchildren; one nephew and 5 nieces. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Richard Shelton and Mack Laverne Shelton.
