Leslie Hendrix Sr., 83, of Alvarado went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Fort Worth. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 28, 2010 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Commital will be at 2:00 P.M. in the Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday.
Leslie was born May 19, 1927 in Cherokee, Alabama to James and Mossie Hendrix. He grew up with eleven brothers and sisters and worked in the ore mines until he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country in WWII. Upon his discharge Les, his wife and children settled down in Fort Worth. Les worked for Lennox Air Conditioning. He was the manager of The Western Drive In Theater in River Oaks, the American Theaters in Bonham, and the Bonham Drive In, until his retirement. Les was a proud member of the Masons for over 50 years.
Les renewed his relationship with the Lord in 2006 when he was baptized in the Calvary Baptist Church and he attended Bar Cross Ranch Cowboy Church in Lillian as often as health would allow. He was a loving father and grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
Leslie is survived by his son, "Les" Hendrix Jr. and wife Diane of Crowley; daughter, "Patsy Funderburgh of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Melissa Butler and husband Michael of Oklahoma and Suzie Hendrix of Burleson; great grandson, Vincent Butler of Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Armstrong and second wife, Irene Waits and son in law, Joe Funderburgh.
