Lester Elmore

Service for Lester Cooper Elmore, 85, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at Nolan River Road Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry York will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lester Cooper Elmore passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in Cleburne. He was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Blum to Robert Lee and Eva Fergason Elmore. He married Katherine Aleta Jordan on Jan. 9, 1946, in Stephenville and she preceded him in death on April 21, 2012.

Mr. Elmore served his country in the Unites States Army Air Corps. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad as a carman with 40 years of service. Mr. Elmore was a 33rd degree member of the Cleburne Masonic Lodge No. 315 and a member of Dallas Scottish Rite and York Rite. He was also a member of Nolan River Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Carolyn Elmore Smithwick, Michael Elmore and wife, Cathy, and Jone Elmore Newcomb and husband, Jim; 11 grandchildren, George, Kristyn, Corey, Randy, Scotty, Angie, Susan, Paige, Robyn, Kyle and Katy; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Leslie Elmore in 2003; and sister, Leda Pearl Butler.
