Lilian Hanson

Lilian Hanson, 95, of Cleburne passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 in Cleburne. She was born July 17, 1917 in Hillstown, England to Samuel and Bertha Buffin Cook.

Mrs. Hanson served as the first woman drill instructor in the British Army during WWII. She was a nurses aid and a member of the Church of England.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Keith Hanson of Tacoma, Washington; daughter, Sandra Laughton of Salida, Colorado; granddaughter, Melanie Lynae of Washington and great-granddaughters, Hallie Rooks of Godley, Elizabeth Frick of Cleburne, Eva Sturgeon of Maryland and Coral Bender of Florida; great grandson, Charles Rooks of Cleburne; and a great-great grandson, Brody Rooks-Ramirez.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
