Lois Wells

Service for Lois Neill Wells will be Tuesday at 3:00 P.M. at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. Pastor Ronald Feagins will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8:00 P.M.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Lois Neill Wells must announce her passing on June 7th, 2019 at the age of 68. Lois will be forever and lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend, Mark of 50 years, her two sons, Brendan and James.

Mrs. Well was born October 15, 1950 in Belen, New Mexico to David and Sharon Rose (Eastwood) Neill. She married Mark Wells on November 1, 1969 in Tyler Texas. Over the near 50 years of marriage, Lois and Mark lived in many locations including Texas, Arkansas, Georgia, Wisconsin and several years in South Korea which provided a broad perspective of various regions and cultures. She traveled often and if a town she was visiting had a gift or gallery stores, she would visit most all of these establishments at least once.

Throughout her life, Lois has had a passion for reading. Although she would be considered a “compulsive reader”, the books she enjoyed reading most often were murder mysteries, sword & sorcery, science fiction and period romance. In recent years, she was thinking of taking up writing herself and even put together several volumes of notes for key visuals for characters and backdrops. Lois attended Chisholm Trail School Academy in Keene, University of Texas Arlington studying all levels of Art Education.

Lois was a passionate collector of various forms of art including Madam Alexander dolls which she began collecting in early childhood and Pocket Dragons sculptures and paintings by Real Musgrave as well as many other artists. She herself was an accomplished artist who worked initially in oils then gravitated to clay sculptures and production pottery. She was the creator and artistic backbone of the Mugley Pottery line that was in production from the mid 70’s to 2000. This is a thrown and sculpted stoneware pottery line that was distributed through wholesale markets as well directly to the public through her shops at the Texas Renaissance Festival (TRF) and Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival in Waxahachie Texas and Plantersville Texas respectively. She was involved directly with Renaissance festivals for many years in Texas but often visited others around the country. Lois was also the owner and curator of The Mugley Emporium which was a gift and gallery store located in downtown Cleburne Texas.

Lois became very interested in real estate sales in the late 1990’s and obtained credits to her license as an agent. This was put on hold for a while due to Mark and her moving to Wisconsin for about 4 years. Arriving back in the Galveston Texas area in 2004, she put together a successful business as a real estate agent with Caldwell Banker in Clear Lake. She loved working with Clients and helping them to solve challenges in this market. Many of her Clients and co-workers became personal friends which was truly an added bonus for her in that line of work.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; sons, James Wells and wife Lisa and Brendan Wells and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Jolie Wells and Averee Wells; brothers, Bick Fisher and wife Elieen, Clyde Fisher and wife Mickey, and Russell Fisher; sister, Tracee Burnsteel and husband Marc; Mother Sharon Fisher and husband Wayne, several cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her and will miss her.

She was preceded in death by her father David Neill.
