Lonnie Henson Walls, age 98, entered into her heavenly reward on Thursday, August 7, 2008 in Mexia, Texas.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2008 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Rev. Larry Henson and Rev. David Bolden will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Henson, Tommy Bolden, Martin Mobley, Richard Skinner, Devin Dufrene and David Paul Bolden. Honorary pallbearers will be George Williams, Seth Bolden, Trentin Bolden And Billy Mobley.
Lonnie was born on February 24, 1910 in De Queen, Arkansas to Tina Collom Thornton and her father, Lonnie Thornton, who passed away six months before she was born. She married Homer M. Henson on October 16, 1926 in Wright City, OK. He was a finisher in road construction. During their time together they lived in Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, North Caroline, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas. They were blessed with two children; a son, Lendell Henson who preceded her in death in 1967, and a daughter, Hazel Bolden, who resides in Des Allemands, Louisiana. In 1950, Lonnie and Homer settled in Cleburne, Texas and began a dirt construction business, Henson and Bolden Construction, with their son-in-law, George Bolden. Homer preceeded Lonnie in death in 1977, after 50 years of marriage. She married Sam H. Walls in 1980, who preceded her in death in 1998. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Cleburne, Texas until she moved to Des Allemands, Louisiana in 2000. At the time of her death, she resided at The Manor Nursing Home in Mexia, Texas.
Lonnie is survived by her daughter, Hazel Bolden of Des Allemands, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Ronny Henson of Mena, AR, Rev. Larry Henson of Mora, NM, Linda Henson of Des Allemands, LA, Rev. David Bolden of Mexia, TX, Tommy Bolden of The Colony, TX and Sharon Dufrene of Port Arthur, TX. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and many friends and loved ones who affectionately knew her as "Granny".
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of The Manor Nursing Home in Mexia, TX, who took such good care of our loved one after her move to Texas. You treated her as if she were your very own family. We would love it if you were to consider yourself as part of the family now. Thanks so very much for your love and care.
