Lora "Earline" Woodard Rives, 85, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Mrs. Rives was born December 28, 1922 at Fort Spunky, Texas to Perry and Gracie Woodard. Mrs. Rives as a graduate of Glen Rose High School and played on the ladies basketball team there. Mrs. Rives worked as a nurse at Dr. Hannah's hospital in Glen Rose during the later part of World War II.
Mrs. Rives made her life mission that of being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Mrs. Rives has been an active member at College Heights Baptist Church for over fifty years. Attending her Sunday school class was one of the activities in which she looked most forward. Mrs. Rives passed away at her beloved home.
The funeral services will be in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008. Mark Ely will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Rives is survived by one son, Dr. Terry Rives and wife, Najie of Burleson; one granddaughter, Lori Ann Guthrie and husband, Montie of Saginaw; one grandson, Justin Rives of Fort Worth; and two great-grandsons, Matthew Perez and Blake Rives. She is also survived by one sister, Pauline Newman of Burleson; one brother, Perry Woodard of Crowley. In addition, Mrs. Rives is survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends.Mrs. Rives was preceded in death by her husband, T.E. "Ed" Rives; her parents; granddaughter-in-law, Tiffany Rives and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Rives had many friends and her memory will be cherished everyday by her adoring family and friends.
