Memorial services for Lucille Laney, 84, of Keene, were held Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Chisholm Trail Estates. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Laney to The Warm Place, 809 Lipscomb, Fort Worth, Texas 76104. www.thewarmplace.org
Mrs. Laney passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013 in Keene. She was born to Adlai and Florence Airy Esteb on March 9, 1929 in Peking, China. Lucille received her RN in 1951. She married Dr. Cleatis Laney in 1952 in Virginia. She has been a member of the Burleson Seventh-day Adventist Church since 2007. She loved spending time with her family and provided a buffet for the family on Sabbath afternoons. Lucille was a lady that you did not easily forget. Her life was one of truly putting others above herself. Until the last year of life, Lucille served others and scheduled her time around the needs of others. To say she was a giver just does not serve her justice. It has been said that she was a spunky lady who enjoyed life to the fullest. You would see her driving in Keene with her convertible top down on most days. Her sweet nature and independent spirit will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Lon Laney; and sister, Adeline Esteb.
Survivors include her daughters, LuAnn Laney and Lori Laney; grandchildren, Paul Sandefur, Laura Sandefur Pruitt, Holly Tursam and Shane Tursam; great grandchildren, Alex Pruitt, Kinley Sandefur, Reagan Sandefur and Peyton Sandefur; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
