Marcia Moore

Marcia (“Marcy”) Ellen Moore, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 84.

Marcy was born July 23, 1940, at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. As the daughter of a career army officer, she moved often. Between 1940 and 1959, she and her family lived on Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands; in El Paso, TX; Salzburg, Austria; El Paso again; Hampton, VA; Newport, RI; and El Paso once more, where she was a Cotton Festival Queen. It was there in 1959 that she married George F. Harrison, also a career army officer, and more moves followed. Between 1959 and 1968, Marcy and George moved from El Paso to Oahu, Hawaii; Okinawa, Japan; Fort Knox, KY; Fort Benning, GA; Hampton, VA; New Orleans, LA; and finally, to Fulton, MO.

Marcy remained in Fulton, where she raised her four children, taking a job as the parish secretary for Saint Peters Catholic Church. After Saint Peters, she served as the director for Ecumenical Ministries, a community faith-based organization supported by local church denominations to provide outreach services to the community, addressing needs such as hunger, health, social justice, and spiritual guidance. From there, her career shifted to human resources administration, beginning with several years at the Fulton Community Hospital, and, after moves to Texas and Virginia, ending with her retirement in 2016 from Patriots Colony, a retirement community in Williamsburg, VA. She spent her last five years in Alvarado, TX.

Affectionately known by various family members as Sas, Momber, Gran Marcy, and Gin Mousy, Marcy was an avid reader, and loved gardening, bird watching, nature, classical music, PBS television, cooking, and home decorating. But what she loved most was being surrounded by family.

Marcy leaves behind a brother, Christopher Moore (Debbi) of Williamsburg, VA; a sister-in-law, Barbara Moore of Flower Mound, TX; four children, Scott Harrison (Jamie) of Dallas, TX; Paul Harrison (Marian) of Williamsburg, VA; Lisa King (Edward) of Alvarado, TX; and Stephen Harrison (Janis) of Roanoke, TX; nine grandchildren, Ben Harrison; Sam Harrison (Cathy Jean); Gwen Harrison; Harrison King (Abbey); Caroline Lutz (Sam); Olivia King; Lottie King; Liam Harrison; Colin Harrison; one great-grandson, Henry King; a niece, Sarah LaFond (Joe); a nephew, Tim Moore (Kathleen); six great nieces; and two great nephews.

Marcy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Charles and Edna Mae Moore; a brother, Thomas Moore; and a sister, Linda Moore.

As we remember Marcy with love, we honor her remarkable spirit, her dedication to family and community, her strong faith, and a life well lived. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for the love she so generously shared.
