A celebration of Marcyle “Marcie” Roden Pitts’ life will be held 11:00 A.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Mr. John Nickols will officiate. Burial will be in Godley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6 -8 P.M. Friday, at the funeral home.
Marcyle “Marcie” Roden Pitts, a longtime resident of Forest Hills in Fort Worth, died at Harris Southwest Hospital in Fort Worth on 16 January at the age of 92 after a short illness. She was a retired Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Marcyle was born 5 August 1926 in Godley, TX to Luther C. and Georgia (Drake) Roden. She was the fourth of six children. In 1944, she married Charles Pitts of Joshua. They made their home in Fort Worth.
In 1957, she graduated from the All Saints Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed her career in nursing and retired in 1992 after 17 years as Inservice Coordinator at Forest Hills Nursing Center.
Marcyle was longtime member of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Trentman Baptist Church and the Star Steppers Walkers Club.
Mrs. Pitts developed a love of reading at an early age and this love continued throughout her life. She enjoyed bird watching, mall walking and traveling. She also greatly loved and was a faithful servant to her four-legged friends. She was a very strong and independent lady as demonstrated by her living at home alone with no help for over thirty years.
Marcyle was preceded in death by Charles W. Pitts, her husband of 44 years; her parents; two sisters Ruth Roden Click and Inez Roden Gilliam and one brother L.D. “Bud” Roden. She is survived by two loving brothers and sisters-in-law Charles C. Roden and wife Ute of Waco, TX and Norman G. Roden and wife Gay of Georgetown, TX along with numerous nieces and nephews.
