Graveside service for Margaret Ramsey Smith, 101 of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday. Aug. 4, 2022 in the Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home. Dr. John Hall will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Colton Bivens, Allaney Bivens, Micah Jones, Joshua Jones, Renars Clements, Artis Clements and Nils Clements.
Mrs. Smith was born June 14, 1921 in Cleburne to John Samuel and Charity Leona Martin Ramsey. She married Marty Melvin Smith on Nov. 29, 1938 in Midlothian, Texas. He preceded her in death in April of 1990. She was a Teller and Bookkeeper with 20 years of service with the First National Bank in San Angelo and over 10 years of service with the Santa Fe Credit Union. She was a member of the Field Street Baptist Church for over 40 years. Margaret was a lady who stood tall both in stature and presence alike. She was the matriarch of the family without question. She took pride in cooking and fellowship with her family at all the holiday gatherings throughout her life. Another favorite of hers, were the many times she and her nephew, Joe, watched the Cowboys play football. She was giving – of her time, talent and resources. She was a sacrificial caretaker of several loved ones and truly loved doing so. Age was just a number for this lady, who could not sit idle. At 85 she hiked both the Big Bend and Enchanted Rock with her son and drove past the age of 100. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles as well. Margaret was a talented seamstress and created numerous quilts over the years. Her love of life and family as well as her strong will and faith will forever be remembered by those she leaves behind. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Don Smith; son-in-law, James Worley; sisters, Mildred Daniel and husband, Jack, Shirley Benedict and husband, Paul; and brother, Harry Ramsey and wife, Kim.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Pat Worley; grandchildren, Allison Bivens and husband, Colby, Michelle Worley and Jennifer Clements and husband, Robert; great grandchildren, Colton and wife, Ashten, Allaney, Micah, Joshua, Renars, Artis and Nils; great great granddaughters, Ryli, Brooklyn and Brynn. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
