Her mother's people settled in Cleburne in the 1850's; her grandmother, Sarah Moody Wimberly, was the daughter of early-day Johnson County sheriff John W. Moody.
Mrs. Curtis graduated from Cleburne High School in 1934 and from Baylor University in 1938. On December 2, 1939, she married Dr. James E. Curtis, a Cleburne dentist, who preceded her in death. Theirs was the last wedding performed in the old First Baptist Church sanctuary before it was replaced by the present building. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, John H. Buckner of San Antonio, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Irwin, Arthur and Dan Buckner.
