Marilyn Warren

Marilyn Ann Kissinger Warren, age 74, beloved wife, mother and longtime resident of Cleburne, passed away February 19, 2021 in Cleburne, Texas.

Marilyn was born January 6, 1947 in Galveston, Texas, the eldest daughter of Otto Murray and Gloria Mae Nonus Kissinger. She loved growing up in LaMarque surrounded by extended family! After graduating from high school, Marilyn married Robert DeWayne Warren, Sr. on August 29, 1965 at the Queen of Peace Church in LaMarque, Texas. For 20 years she served as an Air Force wife, raising her family in locations all over the world including Alaska, Florida, Virginia, Mississippi, Germany, and Nebraska. Upon retirement, they settled in Texas but also called Alabama, Ohio, and Tennessee home. Marilyn was an accomplished seamstress, cook, homemaker, and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Sewing was her passion! She loved to make clothing, quilts, and crafts. She was constantly finding ways to serve others with her talent from making costumes for the local theatre and church. Whatever the project, it was always of the highest quality and completed quickly.

She was fond of Sudoku and was always up for a lively game of Wackee Six. She was never one to let competition overshadow harmony and encouraged everyone to remember that being together was more important than anything else. A peacemaker, she was the heart of the home.

Marilyn made a home that was a joy to be in. Welcoming everyone with a hug, she saw to everyone’s comfort. Thanksgiving dinner would often have almost as many pies as guests ensuring everyone had their favorite. She believed that you slept better when your house was clean and that there was something wonderful about a freshly scrubbed kitchen sink.

Known for her testimony of Jesus Christ, Marliyn loved to begin the day studying her scriptures. She shared her testimony as well as her insight and deep understanding of the gospel freely. While she enjoyed serving as a seminary teacher, in the Relief Society, and other church organizations, having Primary at home with her grandchildren was her favorite Sunday activity. She truly had “no greater joy than to hear that [her] children walk[ed] in truth.” Bob and Marilyn served a mission together for The Church in Nauvoo, Illinois. They also served in the Dallas temple regularly.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Robert Warren, her brother, Richard Kissinger of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; and her sister, Debra Kissinger of Richwood, Texas; and five children, Robert and Pam Warren of Plano; Lisa and Corey Hurst of Texarkana; Janet and Brian Hartman of Cleveland, Ohio; Ellen Curlee of Cleburne; and Aaron Warren and Tara Freiert of Cleburne; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions to be made in lieu of flowers to: Missionary Fund [https://philanthropies.churchofjesuschrist.org/in-memoriam] or fund of your choosing. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at a later date.
