Martha Forrest

Service for Martha Jean (Clarke) Forrest, 82, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 31, 2012 in the First Baptist Church of Cleburne. Dr. Danny Crosby will officiate assisted by the Reverend E.D. Ingram. Pallbearers will be Christian Forrest, Michael Murray Forrest, Jimmy Clarke, Robert Hopkins, Brad Wooldridge, and Bill Corbin. Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Smith, Jr., Sam Walls, Bill Carmichael, Gage Forrest, Dr. Joe Stephens, Ira Forrest, Jr. and Dr. Wade Smith. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Forrest passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 in Ft. Worth. She was born Oct. 28, 1929 in Cleburne to J.W. "Bill" and Mary Alice (Wofford) Clarke. She married O.C. Forrest, Jr. on Oct. 3, 1947 in Cleburne.

Mrs. Forrest graduated from CHS in 1947 and was the vice-president of Forrest Auto Park. Her contributions to the community have included leadership roles in organizations such as Heritage Assembly, Green Thumb Garden Club, Watch and Work Circle of King's Daughters, Amores Librorum Book Club and the Nathanial Winston Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She has held many committee posts at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, William Clinton Forrest and wife Karen and Charles Michael Forrest; grandsons, Christian Forrest and Michael Murray Forrest; and one great granddaughter, Averie Forrest, all of Cleburne. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband O.C. Forrest, Jr. on May 31, 1997 and one brother, Billy Clarke.
