Service for Martha Jean Murdoch, 73, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 in Field Street Baptist Church. Dr. Tony Torres will officiate, assisted by Mr. Peter Svendsen. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Devaney, Matt Devaney, Pat Devaney, Dr. George Walls, Brian Poston, Matt Murdoch, Harrison Murdoch, and Will Murdoch. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 P.M, Monday, at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home.
Martha Jean Murdoch passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 in Ft. Worth. She was born Sept. 17, 1943 in Dallas to George and Fleta Ricks Walls. She married David Dale Murdoch on March 28, 1970 in Cleburne.
Mrs. Murdoch was an educator and homemaker. She was a 1961 graduate of Cleburne High School and a graduate of Texas Christian University. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She taught elementary school art for several years. In Cleburne, she has served as secretary/treasurer of the Cleburne Ex-Students Association, was a long time member and past president of Friendship Circle of King’s Daughters as well as past president of the City Union Of King’s Daughters and past president of the Johnson County Republican Women.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 46 years, David Murdoch of Cleburne; three children, Criss Murdoch and wife Cindy of Denton, Scott Murdoch and wife Lisa of Ringgold, GA and Jan Poston and husband Ronny of Oakwood, TX; four grandchildren, Brian Poston, Matt Murdoch, Harrison Murdoch and Will Murdoch; brother, Sam Walls and wife Kay of Cleburne; sister, Nancy Devaney and husband Pete of Cleburne; niece, Emily Insall and husband Cliff, nephews, Dr. George Walls and wife Carrie, Chris Devaney and wife Heather, Matt Devaney and wife Mika and Pat Devaney and wife Traci. She is also survived by her beloved Hens, her high school girlfriends and was fondly known as the Head Hen. She was preceded in death by her parents.
