Service for Martha Gail McCleary, 71, of Coyote Flats will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 12, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne. Dr. Robert Herzig will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Oefinger, John Scott, Doug Johnson, Larry Finch, John Finch, Scott Finch, Lee Robinson and Bill Robinson, Jr. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Martha Gail McCleary passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 in Cleburne. She was born June 23, 1944 in Millington, TN to John and Ruth Boyers Robinson. She married Gary Lee McCleary on June 9, 1972 in Fort Worth.
Mrs. McCleary graduated from East Texas State University, obtaining two degrees in English and Physical Education. She taught school for 40 years, with 32 years in the Cleburne ISD, where she was previously awarded Teacher of the Year for Fulton. Gail was famous for naming the city of Coyote Flats in 2010, where she and Gary live. She was one of the founders of the Teal Magnolia’s Ovarian Cancer Support Group, a member and past president of the Cleburne Garden Club, Co-Chairman of the Relay for Life in Cleburne, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Gary McCleary, of Coyote Flats; three sons, Chris McCleary and wife Melinda, Mike McCleary and wife Diana of Keene, and Russ McCleary of Venus; three grandchildren, Ben McCleary, Kyle McCleary and Matt McCleary; sister, Patty Finch of Watauga; brother, Bill Robinson and wife Betty of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother-in-law, Craig J. McCleary of Cleburne and adopted daughter, Mary Mize Hicks of Cleburne. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jim Finch.
